How would you layer during the fall?
Fun fact: I was sweating bullets because the temperature was in the 70s that day. People were probably staring at me like I was crazy.
Since I have been having a pretty stressful week, I decided to let go and have fun with this look. One aspect of clothing that I haven’t addressed much is movement and – with no pun intended – fall is a perfect time to experiment with movement. How the fabrics flow can add character to the overall look.
[Warning: The next 6 photos will be of me being silly with the same look at the same location)
Psh, who says you have to freeze while you are in front of the camera?
When I look at this shot, I am convinced that my spirit animal is a bird.
Falling leaves, falling feathers. I swear, I could turn this whole post into a pun!
I love it when photos turn out great when you are not trying – as silly as I seemed like dancing around with my scarf. Sometimes, experimentation is all you need. My favorite part about this look is actually the tights and knee high combo. It’s not so creative but it’s creative. I felt pretty proud of myself for incorporating something that I’ve only tried doing once.
I promise you that the only time you will ever see me in this pose is when I am trying to fix my hair.
Afternoons in the autumn can be very difficult to have our shoots take place because of the angles of the sunlight. We spent hours just trying to find the right spots.
I know I look awesome, but can we stop and appreciate the scenery behind me?
Sometimes, the temperatures in the fall are unpredictable. One second, you’re cold and then another, you’re hot. That’s why layering is so important! And the best part about this look is that you can be colorful and not overdo it. To bring out the jewel-toned feathers, I wore my mustard yellow skirt and burgundy red/olive green (depending on which photos you’re looking at) scarf, both appropriate for the current leaves’ color transitions as well. However, I didn’t want to look like I am part of the trees so the dark top made the perfect contrast to the rest of the articles.
Bloopers: See anything different with this look?
We had to take some extra shots, so when I redressed myself the next day, I took a different-colored scarf!
The irony behind this photo is that I used a professional camera as a prop and my iPhone for the shoots.
By the end of the day, I was done with the heat. Tying my denim jacket around my waist was a convenient and stylish way to avoid getting heated up by the sun.
So, remember: layer, layer, layer!
